Job description

Europe's largest and far-reaching logistics firm is now hiring on their grandest digital greenfield project in 10 years. The £100 million hardware investment has been made, and now a heroic development team take the reins. That's you! We're looking for a API Developer (REST, XML, JSON, Node, WSDL) to grow out the platform and launch a wide range of new digital services. This is not just tweaking what already exists; it's a remarkable chance to get into a digital sandbox at a UK-wide enterprise level.

The development team is a massive part of the company's new direction and will be in their central London offices (Liverpool Street). This role would be part of building an Integration centre; key to a large transformation project focusing on highly resilient and scalable event-driven architecture. The firm is fully embracing Agile/DevOps methods and Android subsystems.

API Developer (REST, XML, JSON, Node, WSDL) Skills:

  • Strong communication verbally and in code
  • Versatile generalist with a holistic outlook to development and design challenges
  • Strong awareness of:
    • Using XML or JSON
    • Creation of REST/SOAP API's
    • Implementation APIs and policies
    • Working in an Agile development team and report on progress
  • Confidence with Node.js
  • Knowledge of creating WSDL & Swagger definitions
  • Perform unit testing of APIs (SOAP UI)
  • Experience with end-to-end and non-functional testing of APIs
  • Knowledge of API Security (WS-Security, OAuth, SAML)
  • Implementation experience of JavaScript and XSLTs
  • Keen and interested in innovation and adapting
  • Nice-to-have's:
    • API Management experience, (IBM API Connect)
    • Commercial experience of Elasticsearch/Kibana

API Developer (REST, XML, JSON, Node, WSDL) Responsibilities:

  • In charge of the detailed design - working with the internal integration architecture function
  • Key to an in-house multi-disciplined group of software engineers
    • Open Stack and IBM technologies
  • Commercial experience of affecting architectural/development ideas to solutions that meet business requirements, scalability, security, reliability, etc.
  • Explore new business uses and opportunities with modern hardware and software
  • Capable of interpreting technical architectures
    • Creating low level designs and techniques for modelling
  • Familiar with code reviews and constructive feedback
  • Work very closely with the .NET and Android teams
  • Focus on supplier solutions to ensure compliance with requirements
  • Identify and take responsibility for the technologies need for solution delivery

This role will allow you to bring your experience and ideas to many large scale modernisation programmes. The company back their API Developer (REST, XML, JSON, Node, WSDL) with resources and personal development, and give them space to focus on their own priorities. Not to mention the affect of the role on how the business itself grows. All of that and a great benefits package (generous bonus, healthcare, more) with flexible working hours.

Now, we could wait until I find you, but how about you just find me?

You can call me or email me and we can discuss in more detail.
